My 1st Hubzilla test post

Attached a torrent from Archive.org for The Little Shop of Horrors. I see code for it in the Edit window, but nothing in the Preview window.

The photo icon is for embedding images you have already uploaded to Hubzilla. Embedded avatar as it's the only image I have so far. Not sure if possible to embed external image, not sure if possible to upload on demand.

Have to be careful as there isn't obvious (to me, at least) feedback to indicate the image has been added. The first time I tried, I kept clicking and ended up with the same image embedded multiple times.

"Set your location" doesn't seem to do anything. (I entered "Home" in the pop-up but see nothing in the edit or preview windows.)

Trying to insert poll but I don't know how to embed it, it just floats at bottom of edit window and not present in preview window. Also, I see it has the "Hubzilla switch": something that looks like a box or button saying "No" but is actually a radio switch you must click to see "Yes".

The "Hubzilla switch" is why it took me multiple attempts to register for Hubzilla, as the section for "Do you accept the terms and conditions?" looked like it only offered "No".

Actually I see nothing in the Preview window below my embedded avatar. :( Wait, I have to click the Preview button to refresh and that shows all text and the poll, although I don't notice anything inline for the attachment. There is an attachment icon right at the bottom. And I still see nothing related to 'Set your location'.

Also, I really wish the multiple scrollbars were more visible and less dynamic. ("Just stay put, dammit".) Not sure if this is a Hubzilla, Zen Browser or Xfce issue, or some combination thereof.

Padlock icon is for view permissions, default "Friends", changed to "Public" for this post.

I see that the formatting is like BBCode, opening and closing square brackets at both ends. I think I read somewhere Markdown is an option. I don't see that on the Posting page itself.

Taking a quick look at Settings took me away from the post page. Fortunately, when I went back, the draft post was still there, not deleted. EDIT: The main post still here, but the poll disappeared. I'll try adding it back. EDIT: And it changed the permission to Friends, which I'll change back to Public.

It's BBcode itself, only with Hubzilla-specific extensions. Unless the hub you're on is hopelessly outdated, it's in the end-user documentation: /help/member/posting#bbCode.

The documentation is worth going through. It has recently been completely re-written by @Der Pepe (Hubzilla) ⁂.

I think I read somewhere Markdown is an option. I don't see that on the Posting page itself.

Only in wikis and on webpages. Webpages also offer you HTML.

They just aren't represented in the formatting GUI like a whole lot of other formatting options.

Unfortunately, that link gives me "Page not found" but I'll see if I can find it another way later.

Re list formatting... life's too short for all that BBCode :D

PS I'd give your reply a like but every time I like a post on Hubzilla, it disappears!
